About Maristow Cottage:
This charming 18th century stone cottage is in a truly glorious waterfront setting, adjacent to a grassy quay on the tidal River Tavy, that widens out into the Tamar estuary, the border between Devon and Cornwall. Beautifully and very comfortably furnished the cottage with feature beams, is warm and inviting and very much home from home with gorgeous views from most rooms and has a tasteful modern extension at the rear opening to a secluded garden.
Located in a delightful village with a pub, Saturday shop and well-equipped playground and tennis court, there are endless opportunities for great walking, bird watching, riding, tennis and boating with crabbing from the quay for the young and a launching slip adjacent to the cottage. A special feature of the village is the Tamar Valley railway station, where trains run direct to Plymouth (20 minutes) and across the Tamar to Gunnislake in Cornwall. So come to this very special place and experience a rather different aspect of Devon with everything on the doorstep, including Cornwall!
A glazed porch with stable door has benches and area for boot storage and opens into the most attractive and comfortable sitting room, furnished with a sofa, chairs, TV with DVD and a fireplace inset with a wood burner. Door to a galley kitchen with fine handcrafted fittings, dishwasher and microwave and leads out to a well equipped, kitchen/dining room with oak floor, fridge, freezer, gas hob, double ovens, coffee machine and dining table to seat 6. French windows open to the patio and garden. Off the living room is an unusual den, a snug room with TV and video, a single 3ft bed, and a double sleeping platform above (reached by a sturdy ladder), great for children. Adjacent shower room with shower cubicle, basin and wc and utility room with washing machine and garden access. Spiral stairs (fairly steep) to the very pretty bedrooms. The master bedroom has a wrought iron bedstead (5ft), skylight and en-suite shower room with basin and wc. Further double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed, and stunning views. Bathroom with antique enamelled bath, basin and wc and river views.
To the rear of the cottage is a small patio with steps up to a small walled, very pretty garden with fruit trees, shrubs and patio area with river views. Canoe and one small dinghy storage area available beside garden wall. Lawns (not private) extend from the front of the cottage to the water's edge.
