About House Martins:

There's comfort in spades, and a young country style, but what strikes you as you open the door is the freshness: original seascapes, cocoa-coloured blinds, slate floors, beams and vaulted ceilings. In the open plan, living area, the kitchen - creamy cupboards, terracotta tiles, all mod cons is at one end, so the chef won't miss a thing.

A woodburner warms you on those chillier evenings. From the L-shaped sofa gaze through French windows to the valley beyond, or kick off your shoes and pull out a DVD.

In the double bedroom, draw back deep magenta curtains to let more views rush in; be cosseted by fresh cotton on an iron bed; wake to bathrooms that gleam.

If you're bringing children, there's ample storage space for their stuff, plus lawns to roll on and a real pheasant (who struts with attitude) to feed. Whether you spend your day jumping the surf or walking the coast, you'll love coming home to this: a glass of wine, the last sun on the terrace.
