Holidays in North Devon

Woolacombe Beach

North Devon enjoys some of the best beaches in the whole of the county. Surfing, diving and windsurfing are popular sports due to the clear waters. You can hire equipment such as boards and wetsuits at the beaches and courses are available for all levels and ages.

Croyde Bay has a secluded, undeveloped feel and is a popular choice for surfers. Likewise the long sandy beach of Saunton Sands is another venue, great for big breakers and backed by the sand dunes of Braunton Burrows, a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Woolacombe has an award winning 3 mile long beach where speed boats and jet skies are not allowed, leaving you safe to windsurf or ride the big breakers. Lifeguards are on the beach during summer months.

Three miles outside of Bideford you'll find Westward Ho, a large sandy beach that is great for a whole host of activities including surfing, kite flying, horse riding and crab gishing! Behind the beach is Northam Burrows, an area of outstanding natural beauty which forms part of the Biosphere Reserve. The Burrows are open to the public to ramble through the marshy dunes and enjoy the views over to Bideford Bay.
